Japan's Iwate prefecture, was hit by the March earthquake and tsunami.

Malaysian consumers can treat themselves to an array of more than 110 products including
delectable seafood such as saury, scallop and salmon.

The Iwate prefecture is famous for its fish and crustaceans, which are exported
to big cities such as Sendai and Osaka.

Among the highlights of Itawe fair are scallop, or 'hotate' as it is known in Japan.

Another Itawe specialty is the Saury fish or 'Sanma' which is rare
and only can be found in the prefecture.

Speaking to reporters at the launch of the fair on Monday, the ambassador of Japan, Shigeru Nakamura gave his assurance that food products from Iwate are free from radiation and are safe for consumption.
